IndiGo says 500 planes already ordered, eyes further expansion in partnership with Turkish Airlines

Budget carrier IndiGo is looking for further expansion in Europe and other destinations through its partnership with Turkish Airlines. The airline has already ordered 500 new planes, which will take the total number of aircraft to over 700 once delivered.
“We are currently flying a little over 300 aircraft and we have whopping 500 on order. The expansion depends on the frequency and timing of when we get our aircraft. As and when the aircraft are coming, they are being deployed, some in the domestic market and some overseas,” IndiGo’s international sales head Vinay Malhotra said in an interview with ANI.
“Two more points where we are about to launch in near future would be Nairobi in Kenya and Jakarta in Indonesia. These points have multiple frequencies courtesy Turkish Airlines and with our partnership with them as a code share we are able to carry passengers from India to Istanbul and Istanbul to beyond,” he said.
“Within India too, with our 76 online points we are able to funnel people from all over India into Delhi and Mumbai and further to Istanbul and beyond to Europe.”
