India Vs Pakistan Set For High-Stakes World Cup Clash After Pahalgam Terror Attack Fallout – Know Details

The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup is set to take place in India, with Tamil Nadu chosen as the host venue. For the first time in the tournament’s history, 24 teams will participate. Among them is Pakistan, marking a significant development – this could be Pakistan’s first sporting visit to India since the Pahalgam terror attack, given the strained relations between the two nations.

Adding to the excitement, India and Pakistan have been placed in the same pool, setting the stage for a much-anticipated face-off. The 24 participating teams have been divided into six pools, with four teams in each group.

A South Africa, Ireland, Canada, Germany
B India, Pakistan, Switzerland, Chile
C New Zealand, Japan, China, Argentina
D Namibia, Spain, Egypt, Belgium
E England, Netherlands, Australia, Malaysia
F

Austria, Bangladesh, France, Korea

 

Tournament Dates

The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2025 will be held from 28 November to 10 December in Tamil Nadu.

Defending Champions

Germany enters the tournament as the defending champions, having defeated France 2–1 in the final of the last edition.

Statement from Hockey India

On the occasion of the pool announcement, Hockey India General Secretary Bhola Nath Singh said:

“Today is a historic moment for the world of hockey, as we are witnessing the pool draw for the first-ever FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup featuring 24 countries. On behalf of Hockey India, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, for his unwavering support for hockey and its players across the country.”
