Indian cricket team’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has reportedly sold his luxurious villa in Lonavala for Rs 5.25 crore. Rohit is currently in England with the rest of the Indian squad ahead of their five-match Test series against the hosts. As per a report in squarefeatindia.com, Rohit had sold the villa at a loss of Rs 75 lakh.
The Indian cricketer had bought the property in 2016 for an amount of Rs 6 crore. However, he has now parted ways with the lavish adobe for less than what he paid for it five years back. The property is spread across 6329 sq. ft as is located in one of the posh areas in Lonavala, which is one of the most popular weekend destinations in Maharashtra.
As per squarefeatindia.com, the house was purchased by a Mumbai-based buyer Sushma Ashok Saraf and Rohit paid Rs 26.25 lakh as the stamp duty for the deal which was finalised on June 1, 2021. Rohit himself stays in Worli with his family in a lavish apartment.
One of the best batsmen in the world at the moment, Rohit is one of the highest-earning cricketers in India and has a lucrative Rs 15 crore contract with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) besides his A+ contract with the BCCI and several endorsement deals.
Rohit will return to action next when India lock horns with England in the upcoming five-match Test series that gets underway from August 04. The Hitman is likely to have a new opening partner for the series after Shubman Gill sustained a shin stress fracture which is likely to rule him out of action for two months.
Gill is expected to miss the first three Tests against England and will face a race against time to be fit for the final two games. In his absence, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul will be the top contenders to open with Rohit against England.
