Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asserted that India can become a $7 trillion economy in the future and also took a “pledge” to make Maharashtra a trillion-dollar economy by 2030.
While addressing a gathering, he said, “Maharashtra is Indian economy’s engine. If we keep progressing as a nation, we can become a 7 trillion economy.”
“We made a pledge in 2015 to grow to a trillion-dollar economy by 2030. I renew that pledge today, under Maha CM Eknath Shinde’s leadership,” said Fadnavis.
Further talking about the newly-formed state government’s plans, he said, “We have come up with a model that combines infrastructure, innovation and technology. With this, we’d achieve our goal. It’d be a model of inclusive growth. We have kicked off a lot of projects on the infrastructure front in the state.”
Earlier this week, Fadnavis said that it was his proposal to make Eknath Shinde the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and that it is his responsibility to ensure Shinde is a successful CM.
He said he took the Deputy CM post after a discussion was held with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president JP Nadda as well as Union home minister Amit Shah.
Putting rest to news reports claiming that Fadnavis is unhappy knowing Shinde being the Chief Minister of the State, Fadnavis today, while addressing a press conference said, “Had I requested, I could have become the Chief Minister. We made Shiv Sena’s representative as a Chief Minister for ideology…It was my proposal to make Shinde the CM.”
“Senior party leaders insisted that government won’t run if I stayed out of it, so I accepted the Deputy Chief Ministerial post on their command,” he added.
