Kwatra said that India has helped Bangladesh with aid for the Rohingyas and will continue to do so in the future. About the safety of the minorities in Bangladesh, he said the two countries were regularly in touch.
A major positive has been the agreement on sharing the waters of the Kushiara river and also, a decision to begin talks on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement or CEPA. This will help both countries and after it is signed, will continue till Bangladesh stops being an LDC. Both sides will work together in the areas of space and civil nuclear energy. One of Sheikh Hasina’s family members was an eminent nuclear scientist.
Trade too, as both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart, Sheikh Hasina mentioned, is looking up. India will ensure that necessities are exported regularly. If Bangladesh looks for more wheat, India is going to respond positively.
