Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli has added another milestone to his glorious career by completing 100 appearances in T20I cricket for Team India after being named in the playing XI by skipper Rohit Sharma for the marquee Asia Cup opener against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium.
By virtue of his achievement, Kohli has become the first Indian to achieve the feat in all three formats of the game. The former Indian captain has played a total of 262 ODIs, 102 Test matches alongside his century of outing for the national team in the shortest format. Kohli had played his 100th Test match against Sri Lanka at Mohali earlier this year.
Kohli is only the second player in world cricket to complete the milestone after legendary New Zealand batter Ross Taylor. Taylor, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, featured in 236 ODIs, 112 Tests, and 102 T20Is for the Black Caps.
Coming into the big game, Kohli has an incredible record in T20I cricket for Team India having scored 3308 runs at an incredible average of 50.1. He won the Player of the Tournament award (POTM) in both the 2014 and 2016 T20 World Cup.
Kohli is the second Indian to play 100 T20Is for Team India after skipper Rohit Sharma. Rohit has played a total of 132 matches in the shortest format at the international level and has scored 3487 runs with a record four centuries to his name.
Kohli made his debut in the shortest format for the Men in Blue in a T20I against Zimbabwe in 2010 at the Harare Cricket Ground. His highest score of 94 in the format came in a T20I against West Indies at Hyderabad in 2019. He has a total of 30 fifties for India in T20 cricket but is yet to hit the three-figure mark.
