IND vs AUS: Virat Kohli ends his 40-month-long wait, celebrates 28th Test century in style

Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli has finally ended his more than three-year wait for a Test century on Sunday (March 12) by scoring his 28th Test century against Australia in Ahmedabad. The 34-year-old right-handed batter was unbeaten at 59 from 128 balls at the close of the third day’s play, and in the second session of the fourth day’s play at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, he finally breached the three-figure mark. This is his first Test century since November 2019.
Virat scored his 27th Test century against Bangladesh during the historic day-night Test which was played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on November 22, 2019. In that match, the former Indian skipper had scored 136 runs from 194 balls with the help of 18 boundaries.
However, after 3 years, 3 months, and 20 days, he has again scored a Test century and has ended the long wait. The star batter was pumped up after reaching the triple-figure mark and celebrated it in style. The video of his celebration after reaching a century has gone viral on social media platforms. The star batter received a standing ovation from the dressing room and the fans.
Virat had a forgetful outing against Australia in the first three matches of the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but in a game that holds a lot of importance for Team India, as their chances of reaching the World Test Championship final depend on the result of it, Virat stood up once again and is leading the charge. In reply to Australia’s first inning total of 480 runs, Virat has helped India cross the 450-run mark.
After the baggage of scoring a century over his shoulders, one can expect Virat to change gears now and score runs at a quick pace so that India can take a first innings lead as well as invite Australia to bat for the second time in the game at some point before the close.
