Indian batter Virat Kohli slammed his 81st international hundred during the IND vs AUS 1st Test 2024-25 Test being played at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Virat reached the three-figure mark in just 143 balls and his innings included eight fours and two sixes. The latter also achieved his first hundred in the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). This was also Virat’s first hundred in the year 2024 and first one in Tests after a time span of more than one year. As soon as Virat reached his ton, Team India declared their second innings at a score of 487/6 and set the hosts a target of 534 runs.

Apart from registering a brilliant century, Virat Kohli went passed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most Test centuries by an Indian batter in Australia. Before the IND vs AUS 1st Test 2024, Virat and Sachin were tied at six tons, however, as soon as Kohli reached the three-figure mark in Perth, the right-handed Indian batter became the Indian batter to score the most Test hundreds on the Australian soil. The Day 3 of the IND vs AUS 1st Test turned out to be brilliant for the Indian team as on the start of the day, Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed a century, Jaiswal became only the second Indian batter after Virat Kohli to score a century at the Optus Stadium in Perth. After declaring the innings, the Indian bowlers went fire with fire against the Australian batters and reduced them to 12/3 after 4.3 overs at the end of day.
