‘Incompetent government’: Owaisi wants PM Modi to be transparent and honest about Pakistan missile incident

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is not satisfied with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement in Lok Sabha on the inadvertent release of a missile during an inspection on March 9, 2022.
In a series of tweets, Owaisi asserted that the statement by the Defence Minister has told the public nothing about the incident and called it a scary situation that deserves an explanation.
Equating it to a cover-up, the Hyderabad MP said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union government must rise about their petty politics and propaganda films, to focus on being transparent and honest about the missile accident.
‘India has a global reputation as a responsible nuclear power’
India has a global reputation as a responsible nuclear power and it can’t be allowed to be destroyed because of this incompetent government, he tweeted.
“Is it true that there were more missiles on the launcher which had to be stopped from taking off after the first one did? Do we even imagine the consequences of such action between two nuclear-armed countries,” he asked.
On the report which said that the missile would have gotten armed if it had reached its designated target, Owaisi asked what was the designated target and does that mean that the missile was with a warhead?
On Tuesday, Rajnath Singh had said that India’s missile system is very reliable and the safety procedures are of the highest order.
Pakistan rejects India’s response; demands joint probe
Describing the recent accidental missile release as “regrettable” he said a review of standard operations and maintenance was being conducted and any shortcoming if found, will be immediately rectified.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi termed Rajnath Singh’s statement as “incomplete and insufficient” and once again demanded a joint probe into the incident.
What the Indian defence minister had said in the Lok Sabha is incomplete and insufficient. It is not enough to satisfy Pakistan. I reject that and demand a joint probe, he said.
