The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Wednesday (October 30) extended the due date for filing tax returns by certain taxpayers including companies for the assessment year 2022-23 by 7 days. Earlier, the last date for filing ITR by companies who are required to get their accounts audited was October 31.
As per the latest CBDT notification, their due date for filing income tax returns has been extended from October 31 to November 7.
CBDT… extends the due date of furnishing of Return of Income under sub-section (1) of section 139 of the Act for the Assessment Year 2022-23, which is October 31, 2022… to November 7, 2022,” the CBDT notification mentioned.
CBDT, the apex decision making body in matters of income tax, said that the extension of the due date by 7 days was made because extra time of up to October 7 was granted for filing various audit reports in the case of these entities.
Worth mentioning here is that CBDT, the tax administration arm of the government, last month extended the deadline for filing audit reports by 7 days till October 7.
