In one of the most shocking revelations in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, Rajasthan Royals (RR) leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal shocked the cricketing world on Thursday by revealing that he was hung from a balcony during the 2013 IPL when he was part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp.
In a video shared by the RR Twitter account, Chahal revealed in a chat with Ravichandran Ashwin and Karun Nair that during a get-together after a match in Bengaluru, a drunk player hung him from the balcony before other people who were around settled the situation. Chahal further stated that he almost fainted following the incident.
While the incident has left the cricketing community and fans in shock, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has become the first high-profile name to react to Chahal’s shocking story. Sehwag has urged for the matter to not be taken as fun and for the name of the player responsible to be revealed. He also wants clarification on what action was taken by the franchise in the aftermath of the decision.
This is the second time in less than a year that Chahal has spoken about the ill-treatment of himself as a junior player in the IPL. In the ‘RCB podcast’, he had revealed how during his stay with MI in 2011, Andrew Symonds and James Franklin had taped his mouth and forgotten about him. Chahal stated that it was only the next morning when someone came to clean the room that they had noticed him.
