Jacques Kallis, playing for the India Capitals in Legends League Cricket, is making a comeback to competitive cricket after many years but feels his training after retirement has helped him keep in shape, “The body is doing okay. I’ve been training even after retiring so it’s not been that difficult adjusting to competitive cricket after so many years. It’s been really fun catching up with all the boys as well in the legends league cricket”.
The T20 World Cup is also just a month away and Kallis, while speaking to timesnownews.com said he feels India and South Africa will be tough teams to beat in this year’s edition, “India will peak at the right time. There is no point playing good cricket before a big tournament so I’m not worried about them. They have the experience of playing in high pressure tournaments. As for South Africa, the preparations are going well and it should be a great World Cup”.
In terms of head-to-head record, India leads South Africa 4-1 in T20 World Cup and former South African captain Jacques Kallis is of the opinion that the statistics could change this year. “I hope South Africa can change the statistics in their favour this time around. The team is playing well.”
Jacques Kallis also touched upon the criticism being faced by Virat Kohli and called it unnecessary.
“Every cricketer goes through a rough patch. It’s very normal. What’s important is you peak at the right time and I’m certain Virat Kohli realises what he needs to do for his team in Australia and he will be working upon that,” he added.
India will be playing South Africa on the 30th October in Perth as part of their World Cup schedule.
