If we get opportunity to form next government…: Nitish Kumar’s big promise ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2024

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,  promised that special status will be granted to all the backward states if a non-BJP government comes to power at the Centre in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Kumar was talking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Patna.
“If we get an opportunity to form the next government, all the backward states will be granted the special category status. There is no reason why it cannot be done,” said Kumar. Nitish Kumar broke away from the BJP and formed a seven-party Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) comprising of RJD, Congress and the Left to form a government in the state.
Previously, Kumar’s name was being projected by his party Janata Dal (U) as well as ally Rashtriya Janata Dal. While Kumar himself denied the claims and said that he had no aspiration to become the PM, the latest meeting between Kumar and political strategist Prashant Kishor has again sparked speculations about the Bihar CM’s political ambitions.

According to an IANS report, Kumar extended an offer to Kishor to work with him as the prime ministerial candidate ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2024. Kishor also stayed at CM’s residence for two hours on Tuesday night and discussed various issues.
Interestingly, just days ahead of the meeting, Kumar had slammed Kishor and said that he was a businessman who did not know ABC of Bihar.
Former Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Kumar Verma had earlier hinted that several people, who has distanced from Kumar after his alliance with the BJP and extended support to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in 2020, are returning to join hands with the JD(U) after his decision to break alliance with BJP.
