Dhanush has taken on the roles of director, actor, and producer in his latest film, Idly Kadai. The Tamil film has received a decent response from audiences, collecting Rs 11 crore on its opening day.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 10.26 crore on its second day, bringing its total India net collection to ₹21.26 crore. With this, the film has successfully crossed the Rs 20 crore mark within just two days of release.

Idly Kadai Box Office Collection Day 2

The Dhanush directorial registered a Tamil occupancy rate of 59.87% on Thursday, October 2. Morning shows began modestly at 34.98%, but the film gained momentum as the day progressed, with stronger performances in the afternoon and evening shows.

In Telugu-speaking regions, however, the film saw a lukewarm start, with an average occupancy of 23.13%. Morning shows recorded 11.10%, but numbers improved in the evening and night slots, crossing 28%.

Dhanush’s last directorial venture, Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam, had an India net collection of Rs 8.09 crore. He was last seen in Raayan, which he also directed, and which went on to collect rs 154 crore worldwide.

Compared to Raayan, Idly Kadai is currently struggling to match its box office performance. Apart from these films, Dhanush has also directed Pa Paandi and 10 episodes of the TV series Avalum Naanum.

Idly Kadai, featuring Dhanush and Nithya Menen in the lead roles, has been directed by Dhanush himself. The film is jointly produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures, with cinematography by Kiran Koushik and music composed by G.V. Prakash.

The movie also stars Arun Vijay as the antagonist, with Shalini Pandey in a pivotal role alongside veteran actor Sathyaraj.

Dhanush Thanks Fans

Dhanush has penned a heartfelt note of gratitude to the audience for the love shown towards his recently released film Idly Kadai.

Touched by the film’s strong opening since its release on October 1, the actor took to X and wrote: “Thank you all for the overwhelming love and affection towards our Idly Kadai. Blessed. Grateful.”

Earlier on Thursday, the makers of the film also issued a warning against piracy, cautioning that strict legal action would be taken against anyone promoting or distributing pirated copies.
