After producing brilliant performances in the initial two ODIs against New Zealand in Ahmedabad, Deepti Sharma moved to a career-best rating of 687 points for the ICC ODI bowlers. She has overcome Kate Cross and Megan Schutt to find herself placed second in the list but she is still way behind, 83 points behind to be precise, Sophie Ecclestone.
Excellent Bowling Numbers In The Series
With the ODI series level at 1-1 going into the final match today, Deepti has picked three wickets at an economy rate of 3.42. Her consistent bowling has been a major factor in her rise up the rankings. She is also ranked No. 3 in the T20I bowling rankings, behind only Ecclestone and Sadia Iqbal.
New Zealand Bowlers Make Moves In Rankings
Many bowlers have improved in rankings from the ongoing series between India and New Zealand. Lea Tahuhu moved up three positions to No. 12, Amelia Kerr to No. 13, and Sophie Devine jumped nine positions to share the No. 30 spot amongst the bowlers.
Unfortunately, Kerr was ruled out of the series due to a quadricep tear sustained in the first ODI, which India won. Meanwhile, Tahuhu and Devine played pivotal roles in New Zealand’s victory in the second ODI.
Devine Shines As An All-Rounder
Sophie Devine leads the New Zealand score chart with 79 from 86 balls and took three wickets for 27 runs in the second ODI. She gained three places to No. 8 in the ODI batting rankings. Others on the move in the top 20 are Kerr at No. 11, Suzie Bates at joint No. 15, after two places, and Maddy Green at No. 18, seven places ahead.
The gainer of the day for India was Jemimah Rodrigues, who went on to become one of the most successful batters, scoring 35 runs in India’s win in the first game.
All-Rounders Rankings Shaken And Stirred
Deepti Sharma and Sophie Devine have also gone upwards significantly in the all-rounders’ rankings. Sophie has gone up two places to No. 7 and Deepti has risen one place to No. 4, showing the difference she and Sophie made in the series.
The third ODI comes, and all of them will look at the two players straight into the eyes for further success and establishing themselves in the rankings.
