Hyundai Verna 2023 Launch: The new Hyundai Verna has gone on sale in the Indian market at a starting price tag of Rs 10,89,900. With the latest updates, the new Verna has renewed its rivalry with the segment competition such as the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia. It has gone on to become a more modern and desirable product with the introduction of several new features and design tweaks.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Engine Specs

The 2023 Hyundai Verna will be available with two petrol engine options, and no diesel option anymore. It will be powered by either a 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine option that produces 114 bhp at 6300rpm and 143.8 Nm of torque at 4500rpm. This naturally aspirated option can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

Then there’s the 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine option that produces 158 bhp at 5500 rpm and 253 Nm of torque between 1500-3500 rpm. This mill can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Hyundai claims that the turbo petrol engine has the best-in-segment mileage figures. For reference, with the manual gearbox, the turbo-powered Verna returns 20 km/l, and with the DCT it returns 20.6 km/l, as per Hyundai.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Exterior styling and dimension

The 2023 Hyundai Verna boasts a completely new body design. While the front fascia is adorned with new LED headlamps and Horizon LED positioning lamps and DRLs (1st in segment), and a new black chrome parametric grille. The side profile of the sedan is characterized by chiselled surfaces, which continue all the way to the back with a distinctive fastback side design. Some of the stand-out exterior features of the 2023 Hyundai Verna include 16-inch diamond alloy cut wheels, window belt line satin chrome, satin chrome door handles, and auto-fold ORVMs.As for its dimensions, the 2o23 Verna sits on the best-in-segment wheelbase that measures 2670mm, and also boasts of the best-in-segment width at 1765mm. The addition of 70mm to the wheelbase and 36mm to the width made the overall cabin roomier than before. Meanwhile, the overall length of the sedan measures 4,535mm and it stands 1475mm tall.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Interior features

Just like the exterior, the interior sees a significant upgrade as well with a completely new refurbished cabin design. The interior now comes with dual tonne beige and black interiors, 64-colour ambient light, premium leather upholstery, soft-touch inserts on crashpad and door trims, ambient lights linked with drive modes, leather-wrapped premium 2 spoke steering wheel and a leather-wrapped gear knob.The dashboard now also boasts of a new 10-inch digital cluster that integrates with the infotainment screen in a single floating type panel. The cluster also changes colour with different drive modes.

Furthermore, the cabin also boasts of the first-in-segment heated and ventilated front seats, while the driver’s seat also gets power adjustability. Along with that, the cabin also boasts of a voice-enabled electric sunroof, smartphone wireless charger pad, smart trunk, and rear manual curtains, to name some of the notable features.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Safety

The 2023 Hyundai Verna will be available with over 65 advanced safety features like 6-airbags, ESC, Hill-start, All disc brakes, EPB, Front parking sensors, Electro Chrome Mirror, Cornering lamps, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Hyundai Smart Sense.

Furthermore, the Verna now also comes with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist System) which uses automated sensing technology with radars (front and rear), sensors and cameras to detect obstacles on the road and initiate corrective actions and warnings. As part of the ADAS, here are the features that the sedan will come equipped with, forward collision warning, avoidance-assist, Blind-spot collision warning, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention warning, and a safe exit warning, smart cruise control, high beam assist, rear cross-traffic collision warning, etc.

2023 Hyundai Verna: Variants and prices

The 2023 Hyundai Verna will be available in four trim levels – EX, S, SX and SX (O). The turbocharged engine will be available with the SX and SX (O) trim levels only. Introductory prices start from Rs 10,89,900 with the entry-level EX trim, followed by the S trim that is priced at Rs 11.95 lakh.
The SX trim with the naturally aspirated engine is priced from Rs 12,98,500 with the 6-speed manual transmission, and Rs 14,23,500 with the iVT gearbox option. Wheareas, with the turbo engine, this trim costs Rs 14,83,500 with the 6-speed manual transmission, and with the 7-speed DCT it costs Rs 16.08 lakh.
The top-spec SX (O) trim with the naturally aspirated engine costs Rs 14,65,900 lakh with the 6-speed manual transmission, and Rs 16,19,500 with the IVT gearbox. With the turbocharged engine, this trim costs Rs 15,98,900 when had with the manual gearbox, and with the DCT gearbox it costs Rs 17,37,900.
