‘How was Modi teeka’: BJP chief JP Nadda’s swipe at opposition on vaccine criticism

BJP chief JP Nadda lashed out at the opposition leaders for their allegations about vaccines and said that they misled people of the country.

Speaking at a public meeting in Panaji in poll-bound Goa, Nadda said that some opposition leaders used to call vaccines a “Modi teeka” and BJP teeka” but now they have got vaccinated.

“They used to call it “Modi teeka”, “BJP ka teeka”. Today all they have received the vaccine. I ask them, “how was Modi teeka?” Did you receive protection from disease?” he asked, taking a swipe at the opposition.

“They misled people. They opposed the people of India while opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and now they are asking for votes,” he added.

The BJP chief said that some political leaders earlier used to ask people not to take COVID vaccines alleging that their trials have not been done properly.

“When COVID started in 2020, a task force was set up in April, and India was prepared to develop its own vaccines. Within nine months, PM gave two vaccines to India. Parties coming here now used to tell others to not get vaccinated, that trials haven’t been done properly,” he said.

Goa is among five states where Assembly elections are scheduled to be held next year.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had said he will not get himself injected with a “BJP vaccine” against coronavirus.

After immense backlash over his remarks, he tweeted that he had “full confidence” in the ability of scientists, but he would not take the BJP’s “political vaccine”.

“We have full faith in our doctors but not in the government. It is good that coronavirus vaccine has come out but only believe what the doctors say, not Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,” he had said.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, however, later got vaccinated.

Congress leader from Rajasthan Prashant Bairwa had also said that he will not take the coronavirus vaccine, calling it a ‘BJP vaccine’.
