Pathaan’s first song Besharam Rang might have been released ten days ago, but that hasn’t stopped people from giving their opinions about it. While many have dubbed it as ‘vulgar’ and accused it of ‘hurting religious and patriotic sentiments’, others feel there is nothing wrong about the song. Following numerous actors and politicians, rapper Honey Singh has also voiced his opinions about the controversial song.
Honey Singh reacts to the Besharam Rang row
Talking to a news portal, the Lungi Dance singer claimed that people have become too sensitive nowadays. “Freedom was much more earlier. People may have been less educated but they were far more sensible. They were intellectually wiser and would take things as entertainment. They wouldn’t take anything to heart… Rahman sir had a song, ‘Rukmani Rukmani shaadi ke baad kya kya hua’…People accepted it. Now it’s even worse, people have become way too sensitive. I can’t fathom why. It’s just entertainment,” he remarked while talking to PTI.
The rapper further added, “People were so intelligent at that time. They understood shayari and never saw it as something dirty. Nowadays, if someone makes songs like ‘Choli ke peeche kya hai’, people will sit on their head and ask, ‘What’s happening?”
Besharam Rang row
Released on December 12, Pathaan’s Besharam Rang instantly gained a lot of attention, and not for good reasons. From being branded ‘vulgar’ to allegedly ‘hurting religious and patriotic sentiments,’ the first song of SRK’s comeback movie faced massive backlash.
Home minister of Madhya Pradesh Narottam Mishra was the first to speak out against the song. Additionally, protests were carried out in Indore demanding to boycott the highly awaited Shah Rukh Khan film. However, amid the massive backlash, Pathaan’s team got the support of many like actress Swara Bhasker, actor-politician Prakash Raj, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and many more.
