Home Minister Amit Shah said that drugs were mostly coming from gulf countries. He also said that people involved in the drug trade have been arrested, and factories producing drugs have been sealed.
HM Amit Shah said in the parliament that raids were conducted in 12 states, in order to curb the drug menace in the country. Shah added that several people were also arrested in the raids and strict actions are being taken against them, news agency ANI reported.
Home Minister Shah also informed the parliament that they have burned more than 1,60,000 kgs of illegal drugs. Initially, 75,000 kgs of drugs were targeted to be destroyed within 60 days, the Home Minister added.
Minister Amit Shah further stated that a committee has been constituted that analyses this data every 15 days.
