Premier batter KL Rahul was all praise for pacer Mohsin Khan after Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured their impending berth into the playoff stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Wednesday. Mohsin-starrer LSG side defeated Shreyas Iyer’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on matchday 66 of the cash-rich league at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy.
With the thrilling win over KKR, Rahul’s LSG side became the second team to enter the business end of the competition. After the high-scoring contest between Kolkata and Lucknow, premier batter Rahul hailed LSG’s Evin Lewis for taking a spectacular one-handed catch of Rinku Singh in the final over. Lewis’ on-field brilliance played a crucial role in Lucknow’s memorable win over the Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders franchise.
“Everyone has been brilliant, starting with Lewis, that catch was brilliant. He’s been struggling with tummy issues for the last few weeks, been in and out of the team. Never easy. Didn’t get to bat today. But that’s what you want to see from players, their desire to contribute in any way possible,” Rahul said at the post-match press conference.
LSG skipper Rahul also gave pacer Mohsin a special mention before signing off. Rahul came up with a big prediction about the pace ace of the Lucknow-based franchise. Rahul said that pacer Mohsin can soon don the Team India jersey if the fast bowler continues his exceptional run in the IPL 2022.
“Mohsin has been outstanding for us in the last few games. He’s got the skills but the key thing has been his knowledge of when to use those skills. He’ll be donning the Blue jersey soon the way he is going,” Rahul said. Known for his vicious bouncers, the left-arm pacer was roped in by LSG at his base price of INR 20 lakh at the IPL 2022 auction. A bargain signing for the Lucknow Super Giants, pacer Mohsin has bagged 13 wickets from 8 matches this season.
