‘He would be a big asset’: Ex-PAK captain feels Indian cricket will benefit significantly from Dhoni’s presence

MS Dhoni made his debut for India against Bangladesh in December 2004, and after a few matches only, he established himself as a regular in the side. He has been a constant presence for India since then, until he decided to retire. Dhoni’s involvement brought a change to Indian cricket, and he won a number of trophies during his tenure.
Dhoni last played for India in 2019, but now there are reports that he will again make a comeback in the Indian cricket setup, especially in the shortest format of the game. And, ever since rumours of Dhoni’s involvement in Indian cricket surfaced, there has been discussion about how it will benefit the Indian team
Reacting to this news that is doing the rounds in the media, former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has shared his views and said Dhoni’s involvement will benefit Indian cricket significantly.
In a video uploaded by his YouTube channel, the former opening batter called Dhoni a tactical genius who is an asset.
“Indian cricket will benefit significantly from MS Dhoni’s involvement and presence. Because of the type of captain he has been, he would be a big asset when it comes to designing tactical plans for the team.
“He is a tactical expert with an excellent temperament. He is an asset to them, and they should indeed create a capacity for him to contribute,” Butt said.
Dhoni, the only captain in world cricket history to have won all three ICC limited overs trophies, was hired as a T20 World Cup mentor last year. According to Butt, Dhoni’s involvement will benefit the players, as there is no match for the experience.
“With his kind of a brain, players will be benefitted. Indian cricket will move ahead. You can’t beat experience, you can’t beat the person who has done things himself,” Butt added.
