He should quit captaincy if he considers me brother: Babar Azam’s cousin Kamran Akmal

Babar Azam has been under the scanner since the start of the 2022 T20 World Cup. The Pakistan captain has struggled for every run in this tournament and his team’s below-par performance has added to the woes. The Pakistan cricket fraternity has come down hard on Babar, who captained his side to the semi-final of the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Kamran Akmal, who is Babar Azam’s cousin, has come up with a shocking statement and said that the captain should step down if Babar considers him his brother. Speaking to ARY News, Akmal said: “If he considers me an elder brother, Babar Azam should quit captaincy after this World Cup. If you want him to score 25,000 runs or 22,000 runs, he should only play as a player. Otherwise, he will come under extreme pressure and his performance will go down.
“If Babar or my uncle understands this, the former should step down as captain. He should focus on his game like Virat Kohli has. He should play for long, as after him, we aren’t able to see a batsman as solid as him.”
Recently, the former Pakistan wicketkeeper had hogged the limelight for his comment on the India-Pakistan match. Akmal called for Pakistan to boycott the T20 WC fixture after the BCCI confirmed that Team India won’t tour Pakistan for Asia Cup. And Akmal has now come up with another shocking statement.
With only 1 win from 3 matches, Pakistan sit at the 5th spot in the points table. The Men in Green lost their opening game of the tournament to India after failing to defend a target of 160.
Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat in their 2nd game of the tournament against Zimbabwe, who successfully defended the target of 131 and registered a 1-run win. Pakistan did defeat Netherlands in their next game but they have to rely on the result of other matches to keep their hopes of making it to the next round alive.
