Haryana on ALERT After Nurse Found H3N2 Positive In Ambala | Key Points

H3N2 in Haryana: Health authorities in Haryana have been put on alert after a 31-year-old staff nurse at Ambala City civil hospital found H3N2 positive. Officials said that the nurse was keeping unwell since March 15. Three days later, her sample was taken which turned out to be positive for the H3N2 influenza virus. “The nurse has been isolated at home and being given treatment under the COVID-19 protocol”, said the civil surgeon’s office.

H3N2 Alert in Haryana: Keypoints

Quoting hospital authorities, Hindustan Times reported that the contact history of the nurse is also being taken to collect samples of people who came in contact with her.

  1. Officials informed that all H3N2 tests are being done in Ambala’s Molecular Lab only.
  2. Civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh said the district hospitals had made all arrangements to deal with any emergency.
  3. Earlier, 2 people tested positive for the H3N2 influenza virus in Haryana’s Gurugram. A 55-year-old woman and an 11-month-old baby girl have contracted the influenza virus in Gurugram.
  4. The health department in Gurugram had sent the samples of 30 patients suspected of suffering from H1N1, and H3N2 for examination.
  5. While issuing advisories regarding seasonal influenza, the health department was asked to make all arrangements in the hospitals as well as inform the patients about the required precautions.
  6. Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr J.P. Rajliwal said that there is a facility to take samples at 43 places in the district. “Flu OPD is also running in other places, including the civil hospital. Patients with symptoms can consult a doctor here at the government facility,” he said.
