India women’s national cricket team is playing against West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium in Vadodara. The Indian team led by Harmanpreet Kaur ended up putting up a big first innings score of 314/6 while batting first. Opener Smriti Mandhana played an innings of 91 runs from 102 balls and smashed 13 fours during her stay at the crease. Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur played a knock of 34 runs from 23 balls which included three fours and one six. Kaur also completed 1000 runs as the ODI captain of the India women’s national cricket team and became the tenth Indian overall cricketer to achieve the feat. Harmanpreet joined the likes of legendary players such as MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma and Kapil Dev. She is only the second cricketer after Mithali Raj to achieve the milestone.
Harmanpreet Kaur had returned to the match after recovering from an injury. Kaur walked off the field while batting in the first T20I match against West Indies in Navi Mumbai after which Smriti Mandhana led the side in her absence. It was a sigh of relief for the Indian camp as Harmanpreet is among the main players of the team and she recovered from the injury with time.
Returning to the match, Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal put up a stand of 110 runs. Rawal who was playing her debut match, played a knock of 40 runs from 69 balls. Harleen Deol also looked in decent touch and contributed with 44 runs from 50 balls. Apart from Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues also scored 31 runs from 19 balls which was very important for the Indian team putting up a big first innings score.
