Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha slammed the BJP government of Gujarat and accused it of deliberately keeping the Amreli district backward. Chadha, who is the co-in-charge of the party for Gujarat state, was speaking ahead of the upcoming state Assembly Elections for which dates have yet to be announced by the Election Commission.
Chadha called the BJP government in Gujarat, which has been in power for nearly three decades, arrogant and alleged that it has created a ‘step-Saurashtra’. However, the AAP leader said if the party comes to power in Gujarat, it will make ‘our own Saurashtra’.
“In Amreli district in the last 27 years, the arrogant BJP government has not built a single high school, college or civil hospital, and it seems that Amreli district has been deliberately kept backward. Today the condition of Amreli is such that, if a person wants to get an X-ray done, then he has to go to Rajkot. There is a serious problem with water supply. Water comes only once in three-four days and that too at no fixed time. Along with this, Amreli is such a district, where the population is decreasing year after year. Because the people of Amreli are migrating from Amreli and going to another place. Because there are no employment opportunities in Amreli,” Chadha said.
The Rajya Sabha MP said Amreli has neither industries nor employment opportunities. Farmers here face problems concerning electricity and water supply, wild animals and they also do not get MSP.
Chadha pointed out that Amreli has sent many MLAs, MPs and ministers but alleged that these leaders did not give back anything to Amreli.
“Amreli district has given many MLAs, MPs and ministers to Gujarat and the country. But these leaders did not give anything to Amreli. The 27-year-old BJP government has always treated Saurashtra indifferently, but in the coming times, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Arvind Kejriwal will change this attitude and do development work in Saurashtra. In the name of infrastructure, people of Amreli have been cheated on a lot. Here, one can see potholes everywhere instead of roads,” he claimed.
Chadha said the electorate in Delhi and Punjab overthrew the decades old traditional parties and elected the new Aam Aadmi Party to power. Like the people of Delhi and Punjab, the people of Gujarat should also give a chance to Arvind Kejriwal, he appealed.
