Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing it of exaggeration in the Gorakhnath Temple attack case and asked the authorities to pay heed to the accused’s mental condition while probing the matter.
“His father said he has a psychiatric problem, dealing with a bipolar issue, I feel we need to pay heed to that as well (for probe)…BJP is a party that exaggerates, “ANI quoted Akhilesh Yadav, former CM of Uttar Pradesh, as saying.
Ahmad Murtaza Abbasi, the accused in the Gorakhnath temple attack case, was brought to Lucknow to the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) headquarters for further investigations earlier today. His laptop and mobile have also been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further investigation.
According to Uttar Pradesh Police, Murtaza forcibly tried to enter the Gorakhnath Temple premises and attacked the on-duty police personnel with a sharp weapon on Sunday night.
ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar had said that the man who attacked two police personnel at Gorakhnath temple, is a resident of Gorakhpur. “A terror angle to the incident is being probed,” the ADG had added.
Ahmad is mentally not stable: Accused’s father
Munir Ahmed Abbasi, the father of the accused had earlier said that his son is mentally not stable and had no plan to commit the offence.
“He is not mentally stable. Since childhood, he is suffering from depression. He also received medical treatment,” the father of the accused had told ANI while adding that due to some developments (in his mental health), the accused believed that police were after him.
“He had no planning and did this due to his current mental state,” he had added.
