Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered culturally significant gifts to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, highlighting their long-standing friendship. The presents, which ranged from a Russian version of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita to Assam Black Tea, showcased India’s rich history, artisanal skills, and common cultural values, demonstrating the cordial diplomatic relations between Russia and India. During his ongoing two-day state visit to India, Putin is focusing on strengthening bilateral ties, enhancing strategic partnerships, and boosting cultural and economic cooperation between the two countries. Here’s a look at the gifts presented to Russian President Putin.

Fine Black Assam Tea

Putin received Assam Black Tea, which is grown in the lush Brahmaputra plains, as a gift from Prime Minister Modi. The tea, which is prized for its strong, malty flavor and vibrant liquor, represents India’s cultural heritage and may have health advantages. Acknowledged with a GI tag in 2007, it symbolizes the skill and heritage of Assamese tea producers.

Ornate Silver Tea Set

West Bengal’s strong artistic talent is reflected in the intricately engraved Murshidabad silver tea set. The present highlights the friendship and connection between Russia and India by honoring the custom of tea, which is a common symbol of warmth in both nations.

Silver Horse

A beautifully detailed, handcrafted silver horse from Maharashtra represents bravery, dignity, and the long-lasting India-Russian alliance. Its calm, forward-thinking posture is a reflection of the countries’ growing cooperation and respect for one another.

Marble Chess Set

Additionally, as part of the ODOP effort, Putin received a marble chess set from Agra that highlighted North India’s stone inlay tradition with inlaid motifs, contrasted stone chessmen, and floral themes. The set offers both aesthetic and cultural value by fusing workmanship and usefulness.

Kashmiri Saffron

Putin received a gift of Kashmir’s highly valued saffron, known locally as Kong or Zaffran, which symbolizes the region’s history, traditional hand harvesting, and economic significance for local farmers. India’s natural and cultural richness is reflected in the saffron, which is prized for its rich aroma, color, and health benefits.

Srimad Bhagavad Gita (Russian Translation)

Krishna provides counsel on duty, the soul, and spiritual emancipation in this spiritual literature, which is a section of the Mahabharata. Putin and other readers throughout the world can appreciate its timeless lessons on moral behavior and inner tranquility thanks to the Russian version.
Putin discussed strategic, economic, and cultural cooperation with Prime Minister Modi and other authorities during the two-day visit.
The diplomatic agenda is enhanced by the gift-giving, which emphasizes respect for one another, a common past, and sustained cooperation in a variety of fields.
