Farooq Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti to join Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K; no invitation to Ghulam Nabi Azad

Congress leader KC Venugopal  confirmed that National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti will take part in the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ when it enters its Jammu and Kashmir leg.
In an official statement, he said, “Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have agreed to take part in this Bharat Jodo Yatra.” Venugopal further confirmed that the Congress has sent invitation letters to all Opposition parties, so whoever wants, can participate in the Yatra.
When asked if an invitation has been sent to former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad as well, he said, “We have sent letter to political parties.
KC Venugopal also talked about the impact of the Bharat Jodo Yatra admitting that it will have an effect on voters but stressing that the Congress is not looking for electoral gains from this.
The Rahul Gandhi-led yatra is currently underway in West Bengal and is scheduled to cover around 800 km in different districts of the state and end at Kurseong in north Bengal on January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Besides the main 3,570-km Kanyakumari to Kashmir yatra, a mass contact initiative of the party, the Congress is organising several sub-marches in states from where the main yatra will not pass.
The main yatra that started on September 7 has so far covered several states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
