In the wake of the recent Delhi car blast, Al-Falah University on Wednesday issued an official statement clarifying its stance and denying any involvement in the incident. The statement, released by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhupinder Kaur Anand, expressed anguish over the “unfortunate developments” and condemned the incident unequivocally.

The official statement confirmed that two university doctors had been detained by investigating agencies but stressed that the institution had no connection with the individuals beyond their official duties. The university also categorically denied allegations that any prohibited chemicals or materials were being used or stored on campus, asserting that all laboratories are dedicated solely to academic and medical training purposes. Dr. Anand added that Al-Falah University is fully cooperating with the authorities to ensure fair investigation.

The statement reads, “We are anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same… We have also learnt that two of our doctors have been detained by the Investigating Agencies. The University has no connection with the said persons apart from them working in their official capacities with the University… We strongly condemn and categorically deny all such false and defamatory allegations. No such chemical or material, as alleged by certain platforms, is being used, stored, or handled within the University premises. The University laboratories are used solely and exclusively for the academic and training requirements of MBBS students and other authorised courses… The University is extending its full cooperation to the concerned investigating authorities to enable them to arrive at a logical, fair, and conclusive determination in the matter pertaining to national security…”

How did the University come to light?

Notably, the University had come to light after one of its doctors, Doctor Muzammil was arrested during the investigation of a terror module. He used to teach at the Al-Falah University. On Saturday (November 9),  Jammu and Kashmir Police in joint operation with Haryana police recovered about 360 kgs of inflammable material and ammunition from Faridabad and nabbed two accused, Dr Muzammil and Aadil Rather. Rather was detained after an AK-47 rifle was recovered from his locker at the Government Medical College (GMC) by Srinagar Police, with the assistance of Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) Anantnag. According to Police, it was Rather’s confession that led to the arrest of Muzammil and the recovery of the large amount of explosives.
