N Kiran Kumar Reddy, a former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, left the Congress . The seasoned politician is reportedly considering joining the BJP, but only after being given the promise that he will be granted an appropriate role in national politics.
As per unconfirmed media reports, Reddy is likely to join the BJP.
Kiran served as AP’s final undivided CM. He took over on November 11, 2010, and on March 10, 2014, he announced his resignation in protest of Congress’s decision to split the state in two.
He launched the Jai Samaikyandhra Party on March 12, 2014, after the state was divided, and ran in the elections that followed. The party lost deposits in many seats during the elections and was unable to win any seats. On July 13, 2018, the party was disbanded, and Reddy rejoined INC.
Kiran was out of politics for a while following his party’s devastating loss in the general elections of 2014 until rejoining the Congress on July 13, 2018. He remained passive in the party, nonetheless, even after joining Congress.
On November 25, 2010, Reddy was sworn in as the 16th chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. a four-time Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly member.
After K Rosaiah, the previous chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, resigned in 2011 for personal reasons, Reddy was appointed as the new chief minister by the Congress Legislative Party and authorised party. Following the Lok Sabha‘s passage of the Telangana bill on February 19, 2014, he resigned from his positions as Chief Minister, MLA (legislator), and chairman of the Congress party.
