Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched another fierce attack against the Samajwadi Party which, as per opinion polls and ground reports, could give a tough fight to the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Uttar Pradesh election 2022. Addressing a rally in Bahraich, PM Modi said while campaigning for the BJP that when the SP was in power, it had worked to get terrorists released from jail.
Modi said the Samajwadi Party was against taking action against terrorist groups. His scathing remarks came just days after the PM had indirectly taken a swipe against Akhilesh Yadav’s party by saying bombs that had gone off in Ahmedabad in 2008 were planted on cycles – the SP’s election symbol.
“These ‘parivarvaadis’ showered love on terrorists guilty of many blasts in Uttar Pradesh. They were conspiring to get them released from prison. The SP was against putting restrictions on terrorist organisations… they’re quiet on the 2008 Ahmedabad blasts verdict. Everyone knows who was helping whom,” the PM alleged.
He further expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in Uttar Pradesh, stating that the party will hit a four in the ongoing elections.
“This time we are going to hit a ‘jeet ka chowka’… First in 2014, then in 2017, 2019 and now in 2022. The people of UP have decided to topple ‘parivaarvadis’,” Modi told the crowd in Bahraich.
Slamming the SP and other rivals in Uttar Pradesh, Modi said “they had looted the country in the name of ‘garibi hatao’ and Samajwad”.
The PM stated further that the BJP government at the Centre and in the state stood with the people in the time of crisis.
“Our government doesn’t leave anyone in the time of crisis. We opened up ‘anna ke bhandaar’ during the COVID crisis, 80 crore people have been getting free ration for the last 2 years. Tough time calls for a tough leader,” he said.
The fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election will be held tomorrow. The seventh and last phase is on March 7, with the counting of votes slated for March 10.
