Emotional Salman Khan writes ‘always loved and respected you’ as he mourns the demise of director Sawan Kumar Tak

Noted director, producer and lyricist Sawan Kumar Tak has passed away. He reportedly breathed his last today (Thursday, August 25) at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for a lung-related ailment. As per reports, Tak was in ‘critical condition’ before his demise. He was 86.
The veteran filmmaker was known for Bollywood films like Gomti Ke Kinare, Souten, Souten Ki Beti, Sanam Bewafa, Bewaffa Se Waffa and more. His last directorial venture was superstar Salman Khan’s 2006 movie Saawan: The Love Season.
After the sad demise, Salman shared an emotional note on social media and offered condolences. Posting a throwback picture, he penned, “May u rest in peace my dear Sawaan ji. Have always loved n respected u.” Here’s his heartfelt tribute to the filmmaker:
Sawan Kumar Tak reportedly passed away on Thursday after suffering a heart attack. His family is yet to share details about his funeral but reports say that it will be held today in Mumbai.
Hours before his demise, Saawan’s nephew Navin Kumar had shared an update on his deteriorating health. “He was admitted to the hospital a few days ago. He’s had a history of lung-related ailments, but this time he’s serious and his heart is not in a good condition. We are asking the fans and followers for their prayers so that uncle can pull through this difficult time,” he told ETimes.
Sawan made his debut in the Hindi film industry with Meena Kumar and Mumtaz’s Gomti Ke Kinare as a director. He received critical acclaim after Sanjeev Kumar’s Naunihal and went on to helm several hit films. Not just as a director, Sawaan was also known for penning lyrics for popular tracks such as Teri Galiyon Mein, Chand Sitare Phool Aur Kushboo and more.
