Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal opined that the upcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat had become a “mass movement” that alarmed political rivals. The remarks came even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertook a rally and inaugurated a slew of development works in Bhuj district.
“That’s why these people are so nervous. This is the reason why so many false cases are happening in Delhi. The upcoming elections in Gujarat have become a mass movement,” he opined today, responding to AAP MLA Gulab Singh Yadav’s comments on public sentiments in the western state.

PM Modi had arrived in Bhuj of Kutch district earlier on Sunday to inaugurate a host of projects, including a memorial dedicated to earthquake victims, another memorial dedicated to children who died in the 2001 earthquake and a milk processing plant of Sarhad Dairy. He is on a two day visit to his home state and also held a held a roadshow in Bhuj town today.
“There were conspiracies to defame Gujarat in the country and the world. Repeated attempts were made to stop investment coming to the state, but the state chose a new path of progress. After the 2001 Kutch earthquake, in the midst of the destruction, I had spoken about redevelopment of Kutch and we worked hard for it. Today, you are witnessing the results. You may see many deficiencies in India now, but I can clearly visualize that by 2047, India will be a developed nation,” Modi said.
