The Delhi government on Saturday alleged that the implementation of the ‘Doorstep Delivery of Ration’ scheme has been stopped across the national capital by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.
According to the Arvind Kejriwal government, all preparations for doorstep delivery of ration scheme were in place and it was scheduled to be launched from next week.
Taking to Twitter, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lashed out at the Central government calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi anti-poor and said “first the BJP government exported all the vaccines of poor people and now it’s snatching their ration.”
It also said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will address an important press conference at 11 am tomorrow regarding “the Modi govt blocking the revolutionary ‘Home Delivery of Ration Scheme’ in Delhi.”
“Delhi government was all set to launch the ‘Doorstep Delivery of Ration’ scheme across Delhi within 1-2 days. The LG has rejected the file for implementation of the scheme citing two reasons – Centre is yet to approve the scheme, and an ongoing court case,” the Chief Minister’s office said.
Free ration to non-PDS beneficiaries started in Delhi
Earlier today, the AAP government in the national capital began the free distribution of five kg food grains to non-PDS beneficiaries. The five kg food grains include four kg wheat and one kg rice. These are being distributed free of cost to those beneficiaries who do not have ration cards, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain said.
“The non-PDS ration is being distributed from designated schools from 10 am to 4 pm with weekly-off on Sunday. The fair price shops are open on all seven days to provide free of cost ration to National Food Security (NFS) beneficiaries from 9 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 7 pm without any weekly off,” Hussain added.
