The once-a-year one-hour Mahurat trading session will be conducted on Monday, October 24, when the entire nation will celebrate Diwali. According to a notification from the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Mahurat trading will be conducted between 6.15 pm to 7.15 pm on Monday. The pre-market session of Mahurat Trading tomorrow will last for 8 minutes, starting at 6 pm and ending at 6.08 pm, and will be preceded by the block deal session from 5.45 pm to 6 pm.

Mahurat trading on Monday will be conducted to usher in a new year Vikram Samvat 2079 as per the Hindu calendar. Volatility is expected to be high during the special session, which is expected to see heavy volume in a narrow trading window of just 1 hour. Traditionally investors buy stocks on the auspicious day, and hold the securities for long-term.
It is customary for stock brokers to offer prayers to Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth before the Mahurat Session.
It is believed that trading during the ‘muhurat’ or auspicious hour brings prosperity and financial growth for the stakeholders.
