Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham remakes? Kajol says ‘no, thank you!’

Remakes of cult classic movies are becoming increasingly popular in Bollywood! While some were able to win people’s hearts, others failed to leave a lasting impression. With so many films being remade, Bollywood diva Kajol recently expressed her opinion about a possible remake of her iconic films Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge or Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
Kajol on DDLJ or K3G remakes
Opening up about her views of remakes of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, the actress said, “My personal opinion is that I don’t think that films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge should be remade. I feel the same for K3G. I feel that magic can only be created once. If you recreate it, it just fizzles out and it won’t have the same feel.”
She further added that audiences would be disappointed regardless of how well the movies were remade. “You’ll always be disappointed regardless of how well it is portrayed and done. Magic has a feel to it. Films give you that feel. You feel something when you watch them for the first time and nothing replicates that feeling,” she said in conversation with News 18.
However, this isn’t the first time the B-town diva has expressed her opposition to remakes of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Back in 2014, Kajol explained that it is impossible to ‘remake a phenomenon’ after being asked if DDLJ should be remade.
While the actress doesn’t want remakes, she does like the idea of a sequel to Raj and Simran’s love story. When asked if Aditya Chopra was planning a sequel to DDLJ, Kajol remarked, “Why don’t you ask him…seriously, that’s a great idea!”
Kajol’s professional life
Last seen in Revathy’s 2022 film Salaam Venky, Kajol has a bunch of interesting projects in her pipeline including the Indian adaptation of the American courtroom drama series The Good Wife, Netflix’s Lust Stories 2 and Dharma Productions’ next alongside Prithviraj and Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan.
