Malayalam actor Dileep has been in the news since 2017 for his association with the Bhavana Menon assault and abduction case. In the latest update of this case, a team of Kerala police officials raided Dileep’s house in Aluva, Ernakulam on Thursday.
The raid was led by the newly formed team investigating fresh allegations against Dileep made by director Balachandrakumar. A raid is also being conducted at the office of the actor’s production company ‘Grand Productions’ and his brother Anoop’s house. The search is by a 20-member team with the permission of the court.
For unversed, Balachandrakumar, who recently had a fall out with Dileep, told the police that the actor is in possession of a few clips of the female actor, who was sexually assaulted. Kumar also pointed out that the actor had threatened to take action on his own against a few police officials, who were probing the actress abduction case.
Meanwhile, Dileep had moved the court seeking anticipatory bail in the new case registered by the police team investigating the actress abduction case, in which he is an accused. The case will be heard on January 14.
Actress Bhavana recently talked about the 2017 case in which she was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted in Kerala. The alleged assault case involved actor Dileep as the mastermind along with other few.
Her post read, “This has not been an easy journey. The journey from being a victim to becoming a survivor. For 5 years now, my name and my identity have been suppressed under the weight of the assault inflicted on me. Though I am not the one who has committed the crime, there have been many attempts to humiliate, silence and isolate me. But at such times I have had some who stepped forward to keep my voice alive. Now when I hear so many voices speak up for me I know that I am not alone in this fight for justice. To see justice prevail, to get wrongdoers punished and to ensure no one else goes through such an ordeal again, I shall continue this journey. For all those who are standing with me – a heartfelt thank you for your love.”
For the first time in five years, the Malayalam actress opened up about her ordeal. Stars like Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Tovino Thomas and many others took to social media to express solidarity in the assault case.
In 2017, Dileep was arrested in a case related to a gang sexually assaulting a frontline heroine of South Indian movies and filming the attack. After two months in jail, he was released on bail.
