The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory regarding road closures and alternative routes for the full dress rehearsal of the Independence Day function on August 13. Key roads, including Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road and its Link Road, Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT, and Outer Ring Road from ISBT to IP Flyover, will be closed from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Restrictions for Vehicles Without Parking Labels

Vehicles that do not have parking labels for the rehearsal are advised to avoid specific areas, including C-Hexagon at India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, and portions of Ring Road between Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmere Gate. Other roads to avoid include A point Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, and JL Nehru Marg.

Alternative Routes for Commuters

Commuters traveling between north and south Delhi should use alternative routes such as Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Kautilya Marg, SPM Marg, 11 Murti, Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street, Mandir Marg, Panchkuian Road, and Rani Jhansi Road. For those traveling along the east-west corridor, suggested routes include NH-24, Barapula Road, Mathura Road, Subramania Bharti Marg, and Safdarjung Road.

Additional Closures and Restrictions

The Old Iron Bridge and Geeta Colony Bridge towards Shanti Van will be closed, but access to Ring Road will still be available via DND, NH-24 (NH-9), Yudhister Setu, Signature Bridge, and Wazirabad Bridge. Goods vehicles will not be allowed between Nizamuddin and Wazirabad bridges from midnight on August 12 until 11 a.m. on August 13. Inter-state buses will also be restricted between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT during this period, and city buses, including those operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), will not operate on Ring Road but will instead take alternative routes.

Security Advisory for Attendees

Attendees of the Independence Day event are advised not to bring items such as cameras, binoculars, remote car keys, umbrellas, handbags, briefcases, transistors, cigarette lighters, tiffin boxes, and water bottles. Additionally, the flying of aerial devices like paragliders, UAVs, hot air balloons, and drones is prohibited in Delhi’s airspace until August 15.
