Delhi Liquor Policy Scam: Manish Sisodia’s Bail Plea Dismissed By Special Court

In a major set back to Manish Sisodia, a special court  dismissed his bail plea in the Delhi liquor excise policy scam case. Sisodia’s bail plea was dismissed in a CBI case pertaining to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy.
The former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi is currently under the judicial custody in the cases registered by the CBI and ED. Special Judge MK Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Court pronounced the verdict in the case. Senior Advocates Dayan Krishnan and Mohit Mathur appeared for Sisodia.
The CBI opposed the bail plea of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader. The probe agency said that granting bail to Sisodia will hamper the investigation.
Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam case. The case is related to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy for the year 2021-22. As per the CBI, Sisodia was arrested as he did not co-operate in the investigation and gave evasive replies. The CBI made Sisodia as main accused in the case.
Apart from Sisodia, the CBI also booked Sukesh Kumar Jain (IRS-1992), the then Secretary Vigilance; Rakesh Kumar Sinha (Retired DIG, CISF), working as Special Advisor to the CM; Pradeep Kumar Punj (Retired Jt. Deputy Director, IB); Satish Khetrapal (Retired Assistant Commandant, CISF); Gopal Mohan, Advisor Anti-corruption to the Chief Minister and others.
Meanwhile, the ED alleged that the excise policy was implemented as part of a conspiracy to benefit certain private companies.
Earlier, the trial court also observed that the accused had joined the investigation of this case on two earlier occasions, but he had failed to provide satisfactory answers to most of the questions put to him during his examination and interrogation.
