Mumbai Indians (MI) have had an Indian Premier League (IPL) season to forget so far. With 5 defeats from as many matches, the Rohit Sharma-led side is reeling at the last spot in the points table. Every defeat at this stage will hurt MI’s chances of making it to the next round and the five-time IPL Champions have to get their campaign on track.
With MI losing 5 games on the trot, they are expected to make a couple of changes going into the next fixture against Lucknow Super Giants. A day before the much-awaited game, MI teased an IPL debut for Arjun Tendulkar. Sharing the all-rounder’s pic, MI wrote: “#MIvLSG on our minds! #OneFamily #DilKholKe #MumbaiIndians #ArjunTendulkar.” The post has garnered much attention, with some fans opining that it’s the time for his IPL debut.
Tendulkar was with MI as a net bowler for a few seasons and had also travelled to UAE for IPL 2020. In 2021, he joined MI at his base price of Rs 20 lakh. His campaign was cut short due to an injury before the 2nd half of the season.
In the IPL 2022 mega auction, Tendulkar also drew the interest of Gujarat Titans and drew one bid from them. He joined MI for Rs 30 lakh. The left-arm pacer is uncapped in IPL so far. Arjun can contribute in both the departments and will be a useful addition in the final XI.
If included, Arjun might replace Basil Thampi or Jaydev Unadkat in the playing XI. The rest of the lineup is likely to remain the same. The MI-LSG fixture will be played at Brabourne Stadium from 3:30 PM IST on Saturday (April 16).
With 3 wins from 5 matches, KL Rahul-led LSG are placed at the 5th spot in the points table. A win in the fixture will see them enter the top 4.
