In the absence of Neeraj Chopra, the Indian contingent for the javelin throw was in doubt to finish with a medal. However, Annu Rani proved doubters wrong and created history at the Commonwealth Games 2022. In the women’s javelin throw category, Annu finished third thus clinching the bronze medal at the event in Birmingham.
This is the first time that an Indian has finished with a medal at the women’s javelin throw event at the Commonwealth Games. Annu Rani recorded a best throw of 60m and was only one of three athletes to breach the 60m mark at the event.
