MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will kick off their IPL 2023 campaign in their first game of the season against Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 31 in Ahmedabad. Their first home game will be against Lucknow Super Giants on April 3. This will be after more than three years that the Yellow Army will play a home fixture. CSK last played a home game against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2019.
IPL 2020 was shifted to UAE due to COVID-19 while the first half of IPL 2021 was played in Mumbai. Before the end of IPL 2022, MS Dhoni had confirmed that he wants to play in front of home fans and the CSK crowd will welcome their Thala with open arms. CSK’s last league stage game will be against Delhi Capitals on May 20 in Delhi.
Ravindra Jadeja will continue to play for CSK as he was retained by the franchise on the Retention Day last year. CSK spent big bucks on Ben Stokes in IPL 2023 mini-auction and signed him for Rs 16.25 crore. He will be a strong contender to lead the Yellow Army after MS Dhoni.
