Cristiano Ronaldo considering Manchester United exit amid club’s lack of activity in transfer market: Report

Erik ten Hag has arrived, replacing Ralf Rangnick as the manager at the helm of affairs at Manchester United. But, reinforcements in terms of players remain missing at the Old Trafford outfit. The situation with regards to new signings isn’t only frustrating for fans, but a report claims that Cristiano Ronaldo is also looking to move on because of the lack of signings ahead of the new season.
Manchester United have been linked with a number of players since Ten Hag arrived from Ajax, be it Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong or the Ajax duo of Antony and Jurrien Timber. While alleged talks between Manchester United and the respective clubs have been going on for a while, the English giants have failed to find a breakthrough.
Even Christian Eriksen was reportedly a target off Ten Hag at United but he turned down the offer from the Red Devils as he prefers a move to either Brentford or his old side Tottenham Hotspur.
The entire situation hasn’t gone down well with Ronaldo who remains the biggest superstar at the club. As per a report in AS, the Portuguese is contemplating a move away from United.
Ronaldo had arrived at United in the summer of 2021 after being heavily linked with Manchester City. In the twilight of his career, the 37-year-old was hopeful of another successful campaign at the club where he already enjoys the status of a legend. However, even though Ronaldo scored 18 goals in the Premier League campaign, United could only finish 6th.
Though Ronaldo had maintained that he wishes to see out his contract, the situation at Manchester United is reportedly making him reevaluate his options. It has been learned that clubs in Italy and Portugal are interested in signing Ronaldo this summer.
While Ronaldo’s transfer fee wouldn’t be a problem for anyone, his wages might become an issue for potential suitors. Ronaldo is said to be earning £385,000 per week. Unless he agrees to lower his wage, it doesn’t look like Ronaldo’s salary demands will be affordable for many clubs.
