Superstar Rajinikanth has teamed up with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for ‘Coolie’, which is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated releases of 2025. The movie will also clash with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’, which is also aiming for a big release across India. The advance booking of ‘Coolie’ will begin on August 8, with shows being set for early morning.

Due to the huge fan following of Rajinikanth, many theatres have scheduled early morning shows for ‘Coolie’. In Kerala and Karnataka, shows will begin at 6 AM, and in Tamil Nadu, the shows will kickstart at 9 AM. The early shows will not be scheduled in Tamil Nadu as the government had cancelled FDFS (First Day First-Show) in 2023 due to the death of a fan.

‘Coolie’ also stars Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan will be seen in a cameo role. It is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures.

The movie is also grabbing attention due to its ‘A’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The A certification has been given to the film due to its violent scenes, and this came as a surprise for the audience, as Lokesh’s earlier movies ‘Leo’ and ‘Vikram’ got the ‘U/A’ certificate.

The plot will focus on Deva, who is a former gold smuggler but is now working as a coolie. He seeks to regain his past glory by reviving his old gang with stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches, leading to unintended consequences.

On the work front, Rajinikanth was last seen in ‘Vettaiyan’ alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Abhirami and Ramesh Thilak.
