Congress should take strict action against 7 MLAs involved in cross-voting in MLC elections: Bhai Jagtap

Congress’ Mumbai president Bhai Jagtap called for strict action against party MLAs who cross-voted during the recently-held MLC elections in Maharashtra.
He also demanded action against Congress MLAs who did not reach on time in the state Assembly for floor test.
While speaking to media, Jagtap said, “Today I took oath as a member of the Legislative Council, I would have been very happy if Chandrakant Handore had also won with me. Until and unless action is taken against these 7 MLAs, there will be no justice for Chandrakant Handore.”
Handore, a former Maharashtra minister and Dalit leader, lost the recently-held election to the Upper House of the state legislature. He was fielded by Congress.
“Congress high command should take strict action against the 7 MLAs who were involved in cross-voting in the MLC elections. Congress has sent notice to those MLAs and also the 11 Congress MLAs who did not reach on time for the floor test,” he added.
Last month, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged five seats, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena won two each while Congress was able to clinch one seat out of the total 10 seats in Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) that went to polls on June 20.
Following the conclusion of MLC polls, BJP claimed that Shiv Sena and Congress leaders cross-voted handing easy wins to the saffron party.
