A day after Congress leader KR Ramesh Kumar said the party leaders had earned enough for 3-4 generations in the name of Nehru and Gandhi, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that his statement was serious and that the Congressmen should hand over to people whatever they had made.
Senior Congress leader and former minister Ramesh Kumar on Thursday said that the party leaders had earned enough for 3-4 generations in the name of Pandit Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi. “Now time to sacrifice has come. If we are not ready to repay those debts, I am afraid the food we eat will be infested with worms,” he said.
Today, reacting to those remarks, BJP leader and state Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said his statement is serious and the Congressman should return whatever they have made as it belonged to the people.
“We have a lot of respect for Ramesh Kumar. His statement is serious and every Congressman should analyse themselves, and hand over whatever they made in the name of Gandhi and Nehru. It belongs to people and must be returned,” Jnanendra said while speaking to news agency ANI.
Congress’ Ramesh Kumar made those remarks on a day party chief Sonia Gandhi was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case.
Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are accused of fraudulently acquiring hundreds of crore properties of National Herald, a newspaper founded by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1938.
Rahul Gandhi was questioned by the central agency last month. Sonia Gandhi was quizzed in the same case on Thursday. The Congress staged massive protests across the country. In Karnataka, protests had turned violent and Congress party workers set vehicles on fire in the capital city, Bengaluru. The Congress has been saying that allegations are wrong and that the Centre is targeting the Gandhis.
