Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has urged Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav to participate in the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra, saying this would send out a good message.
The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister took to Twitter and shared a video of Lalu Prasad’s remarks at the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD’s) national convention on Monday when he had exhorted all Opposition parties, including “big party” Congress, to come together to take on the BJP in the 2024 general elections.
Sharing the video from his Twitter account, Singh said, “Thank you Lalu ji. There is one suggestion. If you join the Bharat Jodo Yatra for a day for some time, it will send out a good message.”
Speaking at the party’s convention, Yadav had alleged that an Emergency-like dictatorial atmosphere prevails in the country with institutions being “destroyed”.
He had further claimed the Narendra Modi government of making false promises and said that people want to remove it from power as they have been hit hard by price rise and unemployment
Yadav also said that people will not forgive those parties which do not join the unity efforts against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.
Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and his daughter Supriya Sule are likely to welcome the Yatra when it will enter Maharashtra next month, reported news agency PTI citing Congress sources. The Yatra will enter Maharashtra on November 9.
“Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar and his MP daughter Supriya Sule have expressed their desire to welcome the Yatra when it enters Maharashtra. So they may welcome the Yatra when it enters the state on November 9,” a party leader said on condition of anonymity.
