Comedian Vir Das lands in trouble again, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti files police complaint against his Bengaluru show

Comedian Vir Das’ tale of two Indias clip continues to be controversial. While some have praised Das for speaking such truths on an international scale, others have condemned him for portraying India in such a negative light.
Landing into trouble once again because of his comments, the comedian faces trouble for his upcoming show in India. Hindutva organization Hindu Janajagruti Samiti have reportedly filed a police complaint against Vir Das demanding that his show scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on November 10 be cancelled.
The Goa-based Hindu Janajagruti Samiti submitted a letter to the Vyalikaval police on Monday, asking for Das’ show to be canceled as he had ‘hurt Hindu sentiments and shown India in a bad light.’ Mohan Gowda, the spokesperson of the organization, also claimed that Das had made derogatory remarks about Indian women, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ‘denigrated the nation’ during a stand-up at Washington in November last year.
In this background, it is not right to allow such a controversial person to hold such a program, in a communally sensitive area like Bangalore. We demand that this program should be cancelled immediately,” read the statement.
However, this isn’t the first time Vir Das has landed in trouble over the controversial clip. Back in 2021, a complaint had been filed against the actor-comedian at Tilak Marg Police Station for the same ‘tale of two Indias’ clip. The complaint alleged that Das used derogatory language against the nation.
Meanwhile, Vir Das is currently busy with his Wanted world tour. Set to kick off the Indian leg of his tour on November 10 in Bengaluru, the comedian-actor will also be visiting Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ludhiana and Chandigarh. Following this, he will be hosting a couple of shows in Australia and the United States of America.
