China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) personnel visited border posts and villages in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir (PoK) to strengthen the Pakistan military set up across the Line of Control (LoC), reports said.
The Chinese soldiers arrived in Kel, Jura and Leepa sectors of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir a month ago, ANI stated quoting a report published in Kashmir Observer.
It may be noted that Pakistan pushes terrorists into India from Kel, Jura, Leepa and some other areas.
According to the report, the Chinese military personnel formed several groups and visited the border areas along with Pakistani Army personnel and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) officials.
Kashmir Observer reported that the PLA personnel conducted surveys of the Pakistani Army posts along the LoC and “infiltration routes used by terrorists to reach the Kashmir Valley”.
The report quoted sources saying that Chinese troops visiting PoK villages are an indication of making model villages that can be used both by civilians and the military.
“Are Chinese helping Pakistan in building model villages along the Line of Control as they have done across borders with India?” Kashmir Observer quoted a senior government official as saying.
Recently, the US Department of Defence in its annual report to Congress on military and security developments involving the People’s Republic of China (PRC) said that China built a large village inside disputed territory between its Tibet Autonomous Region and India’s Arunachal Pradesh in the eastern sector of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
However, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat categorically stated that Beijing has not transgressed the Indian “perception” of the LAC.
Attending the ‘Times Now Summit 2021’, Rawat said, “as far as we are concerned, no such village development has taken place on our side of the LAC.”
“The present controversy – that has erupted – that the Chinese have come across into our territory and built a new village is not true,” the CDS added.
