Man City faced a threshing defeat in the match against Juventus at Allianz Stadium. Pep’s woes continued as they struggled in the UEFA Champions League. Man City managed to win only two matches in 6 games, losing two and drawing two. Matchday six added more to their crisis and raised questions to the management. City’s journey seemed to be fading away with a 2-0 against Juventus
The journey of the English giants worsened with the loss against the Italian side. The loss cost them dropping points, coming down to 22nd position in the UEFA Champions League. They are now only three places above the league elimination zone.
Progressing to the next stage looked tough for league champions back in 2022. Man City players looked lost in spirit. The unplayable team months back crumbled this season both domestically and in Europe. Ending up in the top 8 in the league is close to impossible for me, they will need to rely on other teams to qualify for the round of 16. City won only 1 match in their last ten matches in all competitions. City had been dealing with their key players out injured and facing as many defeats this season as compared to the losing streak in their last 10 years.
Match Analysis
Aderson was brought back into the starting eleven, which did not favour the team. He clumsily conceded a goal from a header by Dusan Vlahovic into the 53rd minute of the game.
There were moments when Man City looked threatening but could not convert the chances. The first clear chance came from a rolling pass from De Bruyne to Haaland, which was calmly saved by the goalkeeper of the hosting side. Man City have had shots from Bernando Silva looking for an equaliser but had been saved. Juventus restricted any open chances from the opposition team. McKennie sealed the game for the Italian giants with a goal of a volley, and Ederson could do nothing.
